Is Your Catalog Ready for the Next Wave of AI in DSPs?
AI is changing the way we listen to, discover, and share music. Every day, more DSPs are integrating AI, and it’s already reshaping how music gets out into the world. For labels, distributors, and artist managers, keeping up with how the top platforms are using AI isn’t just helpful, it’s essential to stay ahead of market changes and make the most of your catalog.
At SonoSuite, we work closely with the world’s major DSPs to ensure your music distribution remains efficient, compliant, and in sync with the latest market trends. That’s why we’re analyzing the most relevant AI integrations and their real impact on visibility, discovery, and catalog monetization.
Here’s a look at some of the most significant innovations from September and October, and what they could mean for your digital strategy.
Spotify is reinforcing its leadership in innovation and AI with a direct integration into ChatGPT, available to both Free and Premium users. Listeners can now get music and podcast recommendations simply by mentioning Spotify in a ChatGPT conversation.
To use it, users just link their Spotify account within ChatGPT and then make a music request, for example, “Make me a playlist for a high energy workout” or “Play a mix of upbeat songs from artist X.” ChatGPT instantly suggests tracks, and when users click a suggestion, it opens in Spotify. Free users can access pre-made playlists like Discover Weekly, while Premium users can generate fully personalized playlists.
Spotify has emphasized that this integration is opt-in and that creators’ rights are protected, as no user or content data is shared with OpenAI for AI training.
This new feature opens a powerful discovery channel for artists, turning everyday conversations into direct entry points to their music. For labels and distributors, this underscores the importance of accurate, well optimized metadata that can position catalogs for conversational search, including details like mood, energy, genre, and language. In short, AI doesn’t just expand reach, it’s redefining how distribution and discovery strategies are planned.
At the same time, listeners enjoy a deeply personalized experience that matches what they’re looking for in the moment, creating stronger engagement and emotional connection between artists and fans.

Spotify continues to evolve its AI-powered DJ experience, adding new ways for listeners to interact and discover music. Since its launch in 2023 in the U.S. and Canada, Spotify has steadily rolled out updates to its DJ product. Now, Premium users in select regions can make requests in Spanish and via text, one year after voice requests were introduced.
For artists, labels, distributors, and managers, this is a huge opportunity. Every personalized request, whether by genre, mood, or energy, can become an organic discovery moment for their music. The more accurate and consistent your catalog metadata, the higher the chances your songs appear in these conversational searches and reach new listeners.
These new features reinforce Spotify’s strategy of combining human editorial curation with AI capabilities. Adding Spanish also expands the reach of music, connecting with millions of Spanish-speaking listeners and entering key global markets.

Spotify has rolled out new measures to protect creators from misuse of AI, reinforcing a safe and transparent music ecosystem. In the past year alone, over 75 million fraudulent tracks were removed, many created with AI tools.
Key updates include:
SonoSuite was recognized by Spotify for its work helping protect artists from fraud. Every day, we focus on increasing transparency, safeguarding legitimate revenue, and making sure tech innovation supports, not harms, the music ecosystem.
We believe that technology only matters when it protects the creative and economic value of the people who make music possible.
On October 16, Spotify announced a partnership with major labels, distributors, and Merlin to co-develop a new generation of artist-first AI products, putting creators at the center and protecting their rights.
This gives companies a way to proactively and transparently explore AI-based products, opening new monetization paths while ensuring fair compensation for artists, songwriters, and labels.
It’s still early days, but it’s a unique chance for labels to stay at the cutting edge of technology and amplify the creative and commercial potential of their catalogs.

YouTube Music is testing AI-powered hosts that add context, stories, and fun facts to tracks while they play, creating a more engaging listening experience.
This is a new way to boost artist visibility and storytelling. But it only works if your editorial content, like bios and press materials, is up to date and strategically prepared, these become the foundation for the AI hosts.
Currently in an experimental phase, AI Host is YouTube’s next step in conversational AI for music, inspired by Spotify DJ.
It’s part of YouTube Labs, their AI experimentation hub, where users can try new products and give feedback. For now, it’s available to Free and Premium users in the U.S.
At the same time, YouTube is updating its Partner Program to fight low quality, AI generated content, known as “AI slop,” while protecting fair compensation for legitimate creators.
In September 2025, Amazon Music launched Weekly Vibe, an AI-generated playlist currently available to all users (Free, Prime, and Unlimited) in the U.S.
Every Monday, users get a mix of songs from their listening history and new recommendations tailored to their taste, moods, and habits. You can find it in the “Made for You” section of the app.
Think of it as Amazon’s answer to Spotify’s Discover Weekly. For labels, managers, and artists, it highlights the importance of accurate metadata, including mood, energy, and freshness, to maximize visibility in AI-curated playlists.
